"Things Working Out For The Better"

Reality
The initial session was used to establish the over all situation my client was facing, and the reality as they were experiencing it. This initial session gave a great grounding providing my client with a clear reality, a line in the sand from which to start their journey.
Goals
Further sessions were structured to work through individual issues or problems they felt were occurring, identifying the outcome that would be ideal for them in each situation, and working through the reality, and challenging their perception of it.
Options
By considering available options and understanding their feelings towards each we used different tools to understand their perspective and provide insights into their thinking.
Through our work together my client was able to tap into their previous experiences and find examples that demonstrated their competence, and to understand that their identification as the go-to expert was not a bind but an acknowledgement of the strengths and skills that they had quickly been able to demonstrate within the new role.
From this revised outlook we were able to discuss options and techniques with which they could push back on the workload. A big barrier was saying ‘no’ to those more senior, and through trialling different options they were able to become confident in ways they could manage upwards without feeling anxious.
“My time management is better, planning is better, and I have been able to say ‘no’ to people when overloaded.”
“Things are starting to work out for the better and it has been a great help.” - PO, Project Manager
Will Do
The outcome of the coaching provided my client with a fuller insight into the own strengths and ability. It provided them with a different perspective of the business they had entered, building self-confidence in the position of influence they had quickly found themselves in. Most importantly the coaching process enabled them to develop method and techniques they felt happy to use. Pushing back enabled them to find time and space to complete their work to the high standards they prided themselves in
